I have been doing research and writing for my novel in progress which I’ve given the working title CASUALTIES. This work is a prequel to BAXTER’S FRIENDS. Neither Jerry Baxter nor Hugh Ferguson are the main characters; the story is told from the viewpoint of one of their high school classmates Billy Bright. Baxter and Ferguson certainly are involved in the story and the book will give more insight into their character development but larger themes are at play, including the impact WWII had on the characters’ fathers and, indirectly, on the boys themselves, as the U.S. involvement in Viet Nam looms on the horizon. I think it will be a pretty good read.
